In 2012 EFG organizes jointly with other interested geosciences organizations a photo competition with the subject "Geology in the 21st century". The purpose of the competition is to illustrate the different aspects of geology in the 21st century with a link to current EU policies.
Participants can submit up to three pictures in the following categories:
- Minerals and Raw Materials
- Energy
- Natural hazards
- Water resources
- Environmental protection and climate change
