Belgium Caving Convention 2011

"Speleogical Days 2011" convention from 16th September to 18th September.

Program on Saturday
Participants can arrive as from Friday, September 16 at 17H00. Bring your tent, mattress and sleeping bag!
After a hearty breakfast on Saturday morning as of 7H30 we start the registration for the caves at 08.00. The order of your registration for cave visits is determined by the date of subscription and your payment. First registered AND paid on time will give you the largest and finest selection of caves.

Caves

ourAs always, the finest Ardennes caves are chosen to open up for the visiting cavers.
Following caves are already opened for us, some of which are recently discovered and explored: Grotte de Hotton (non-touristy part), Réseau de Fesnes / Resurgence Lucienne, Grotte de Fonds des Cris, Souffleur de Beauregard, Han sur Lesse, Grotte de la Fosse aux Ours, Chantoir Morville, Chantoir de Rostène, Quarry "De Keel" in Dutch Limburg. The list will of open caves grows continuously and will be a lot longer by September 17.
Groups leave at 10H00 for the visits of the selected caves.

Workshop
There is a workshop provided on Resisitivitysounding for locating caves from the surface. The company Verbeke Deep Sounding provides the specialized equipment and a geologist.

Walking
For the non-cavers, a family-friendly walk in the area will be organized.

Reception and Doemen Award
At 18H00, after visiting the caves, workshop and walk follow a reception and the awarding of the Prize Doemen.



Let's party!!!!

Then we begin the real stuff, the traditional feast with a good meal at 19H00 and then all up to the dance floor or have a nice chat in a quiet spot with caving friends a and their families. Probably the best part of this meeting.

Program on Sunday
After the Sunday breakfast the festival continues at 10H00 with presentations, films, workshops, and booth's for caving related books and equipments.
Of course a cavers gathering will not go without an SRT climbing competition. Registration is required!

Climbing Competition
On the estate under the guidance of Rudi Debbaut. Subscription is required. Timings will be shown at registration.

Old and new publications about Caving and related sciences and arts, gathered for you.

A caving gear shop
You want to replace some equipment or do you want to see and touch the latest caving gear development, have a look at the booth of De Berghut.

BBQ
Something good for everyone (12H00).

A little surprise is offered in the afternoon, around 15H00, by the Friends of the VVS.

At 16H00 we unfortunately have to break up the party and we will have to wait another 2 years for the next Speleological Days!

Registration for the VVS Speleological Days 2011
Registration can only be done on individual basis using the online form as from 1st of July 2011 as of 12H00. Attention, the date of payment received will determine your order for the registration for the caves on saturday.
A family or group must register all members individually.
We offer an all-inclusive plan, a plan for a full weekend but without BBQ on Sunday, and a plan for only BBQ on Sunday.

What is this "all-inclusive plan" ?
Stay overnight on Friday and Saturday in your own tent and equipment.
Saturday: breakfast and lunch pack, cave visits, walks, workshop, reception, banquet and party. (Drinks at you expenses)
Sunday: headache-pills, breakfast, presentations, films, BBQ, a surprise on Sunday afternoon Use of accommodations.

Lodging
Tents are set up in the designated area of the domain as of Friday September 16; 17H00. Mobile homes can unfortunately NOT visit the domain but they can go to a nearby camping with a surcharge of 6 Eu + 2.5 Eu / person + 2.5 Eu for electricity (if required). Camping Cascade de Jausse, address : Route de Jausse 2 at 5340 Gesves. Tel +32 (0) 81 57 07 73 The Speleological days 2011 organisation will refund however 2 Eu per person and per night if you present the camping bill. Do it on Sunday!

Insurances
If you subscribed for a caving initiation on Saturday an you don't have adequate insurance covering caving, an additional fee for caving insurance will add tot the total bill ( 12 Eu as of 14 yrs, 8,5 Eu for less than 14 yrs)

How to pay
Will please do this immediately after your online registration. The online registration form shows the ultimate date of payment in order to preserve your registration order for the caves on Saturday.
